Welcome to Gilgara Retreat, located in the heart of the picturesque Margaret River wine region of Western Australia.
Gilgara is nestled on a hillside near the corner of Caves Rd and Carters Rd, just five minutes by car from Margaret River town, Gracetown and Prevelly beaches, the Cape to Cape trail and the famous Margaret River vineyards.
We are an adult only retreat best suited to couples seeking romantic getaways, ‘digital detox’ weekends or, a place from which to base an adventure weekend from.
We keep the Homestead and surrounds very quiet and we are non-intrusive hosts, offering you as much peace and quiet as possible. Surrounded by well-kept cottage style and native gardens, rolling lawns in a beautiful country environment, Gilgara is the perfect escape from your everyday life!
Gilgara has two types of accommodation.
- GILGARA HOMESTEAD and GILGARA GARDEN APARTMENTS
Please note, we are non-intrusive hosts and make sure you have all you need prior to your arrival. With no restaurant on site or concierge service, we encourage you to utilise and enjoy all the local services on offer in this wonderful region!

Directions
From the Margaret River Visitor Centre drive north on Bussell Highway. Once past the bridge take the first road on the left (Carters Rd). Drive six kilometres to the end of Carters Road then turn left (South) onto Caves Road. Gilgara Retreat is a few metres from this corner on the right.
